Cumberland Island Bull Redfish - Today, we successfully targeted 25-35 pound Bull Redfish for the 6th consecutive fishing trip using live bait. We worked at keeping our live baits on the bottom for the best chance to catch a Bull between sandbars. We're mainly fishing channels that run through sandbar areas, also known as "Sloughs". The fish were there in decent numbers for us, thank goodness.

Most open water sounds or ocean inlets have sandbars, If they have sandbars, they'll have channel sloughs running through them in most cases. These are prime locations to catch several species as they stalk the area for food.

Many times, we've found that fishing the "slopes" of these sloughs or channels serve as a runway the baitfish will choose to evade predatory fish. The slope of a channel edge is not the shallow part of a sandbar, but it's not the deepest. Most times, baitfish will find comfort in numbers as they travel with the current through these areas. Be there... Catch fish!
