Editor's Note:  The story below is copied straight from FARS News Agency of Iran. Interestingly the grammar error in the headline is almost on point. The "24th fleet" of the Iran Navy consist of two sea going war ships as described in the article. However there is nothing funny about the Peacock learning to swim and then immediately on its first ocean voyage swimming off to visit the Dragon while pledging cooperation with India. Frankly the Peacock is doing the Dragon's bidding. While both Iran and China hate India and fear her sea power, they want India alone in the world. If India gets off the fence and joins up decisively with the other seafaring democracies the People's Liberation Army's Navy (PLAN) could be contained just by the combined arms of India and Japan. With the U.S., Australia, and Great Britain in the game the PLAN has no where to go but to the bottom of the sea if the Dragon finally steps over the line that separates psyops, and litigation, propaganda, and scare tactics from an act of war. But Iran is not to be discounted as a naval threat in its own right. Iran may be inexperienced but they, unlike the nations their mad leadership despises, are on a naval build up. As recently as three weeks ago we referred to Irans Navy as mostly small craft. We decided to up date our research. Their regular navy fleet ( which doesn't count Republican Guard small craft) is increasing in numbers and size and capability. Here is our latest data:

NAVY Officers and Crews : 13,4000
MARINES: 2,800
AIR CREWS : 2,000

SUBMARINES: Kilo Class (7,500 mile range, 18 torpedos and 24 mines)    3
                           Other Classes 1 each of 2                                                   2
mini subs   10 parbably active, 25 suspected total               35

DESTROYERS                                                                                              3
FRIGATES                                                                                                     6
CORVETTS                                                                                                                                    3
MISSILE BOATS                                                                                         26
PATROL COASTAL                                                                                    94
PATROL INSHORE                                                                                       8
FAST PATROL BOATS                                                                               75
MINE LAYERS                                                                                               2
MINE SWEEPERS                                                                                          3
HELO CARRIER                                                                                             1
HELO CARRIER /CARGO                                                                              1
AUXILIARIES AND MISC                                                                            15
COMBAT SMALL CRAFT                                                                           200

So counting submarines Iran now has about 43 Capital warships and 15 Auxiliaries enough capability to make a serious contribution to an ocean operation with a stronger ally or to make real trouble for a weaker opponent and  hundreds of smaller combat craft with less range but able to "swarm" the Strait of Hormuz making real trouble for even the most powerful navy close to the shores of Iran. The religious mad men who rule Iran don't like the Chinese who they regard as God less any more than they like any other "infidel", but they are absolutely blind with hate for America and Israel so for the time being they do the dragon's bidding.
Meanwhile for India to remain the dominant power on the Indian Ocean she has to contend with growing navies of Pakistan, and Iran now allied with China.  All three deny having any designs on India. If you believe that I have some land in the everglades I'd like to talk to you about.  For a more detailed summary and more photos click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bi17rgNoWXM
