THE AMERICAN ADMIRALTY BOOKS VIRTUAL BOAT SHOW OPENS FRIDAY.
FROM FRIDAY OCTOBER 5, 2012 THROUGH MONDAY OCTOBER 8, 2012 THIS SPACE THAT YOU ARE READING NOW WILL BE OCCUPIED BY THE BOAT SHOW'S "VIRTUAL GATE". THE GREEN SAILING SHIP "STATION ID/ TEST PATTERN" AND DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS WILL NOT APPEAR AGAIN UNTIL TUESDAY OCTOBER 6, 2012. HOWEVER THROUGHOUT THE BOAT SHOW THE ENTIRE BLOG SITE INCLUDING THE NEWS SERVICE AND ALL SPECIAL PAGES WILL BE FULLY FUNCTIONAL. TO REACH THE SPECIAL PAGES (ADMIRALTY LAW, NAVAL INTEREST, MERCHANT MARINE INTEREST, FISHING, SAILING, DIVING, SURFING, VESSEL TRAFFIC SERVICES etc.) JUST CLICK ON THEIR TITLES IN THE RIGHT HAND MARGIN. TO READ ANY OF THE PREVIOUS BLOG POSTINGS OR SERIALS START YOUR SEARCH BY SIMPLY SCROLLING DOWN AND LOOKING FOR EITHER THE TITLE OR DATE IN THE LOWER RIGHT HAND MARGIN. ABOUT 400 BLOG POSTS ARE ON FILE AT THE MOMENT.
We'd like to remind our readers that the "work" of the American Admiralty Books site is the encyclopedic introduction of maritime subjects and the review, description, and organization of English language sources of maritime information in both professional and recreational areas of endeavor. That work takes place in the various "Special Pages"identified by subject matter in the right hand margin. What you are reading now is the blog posting page. We use this space to identify our site and provide daily "infotainment", mostly blog postings on timely maritime subjects, probably too often on naval and merchant marine subjects, but occasionally on recreational boating. Also here on the blog posting page we sometimes post more elaborate infotainment features like "film festivals" on various nautical subjects and of course our "VIRTUAL BOAT SHOW".
Please take some time to visit our VIRTUAL BOAT SHOW this weekend. Our work of making all of the world's maritime information more accessible and easy to find is a feat of librarianship that is costly to perform. It is supported entirely by on site advertising and linked book and video sales. None the less we serialize books, link you to useful and informative free videos, advocate membership in certain maritime academic organizations such as the U.S.Naval Institute http://www.usni.org/ and the National Maritime Historical Society http://seahistory.org/ and do many other things of a library like nature, all of which are not directly funded.
We try to be both informative and entertaining. Our work is supported entirely by you our readers without direct cost to you. When you click into this site no information is gathered about you but your click into this site indicates an interest in one or more maritime subjects. Our advertisers want exposure to you. We live on clicks, the higher our visitor count the higher our advertising rates and resultant revenues. We don't want to push book, kindle, and video purchases too hard because we don't want you to limit your study of any maritime subject to only what you can afford to buy. So we provide author, title, and ISBN (International Standard Book Binding Number) for each title we review. We also alert you to the fact that the ISBN number is provided by Amazon on the books that we haven't published a review on yet if you scroll down far enough on the Amazon description. But when you do buy a book through our site we do receive a commission. Your price direct from Amazon or through this portal remains the same, but when you use our links you support our work of encyclopedic organization of all the world's maritime information. So please visit us as often as convenient for you, click on our advertisers once in a while, when you are looking to purchase a book please enter Amazon through one of our links. Like us on FaceBook, and tweat about us when you get a chance. When you do these things you help assure that we will be here, constantly improving on the day you really need us for some serious research.
THANKS,
OG
