The Racing Sloop VENCEDOR on Lake Erie 1897. We had to replace the STAR of INDIA as our daily boat picture because certain browsers couldn't produce it. Our Blog is constructed in Google Chrome, so what we see on the "dashboard" as we produce pages is exactly what you see if you view the blog in Google Chrome. Printed matter seems to transfer between browsers and servers effortlessly but certain illustrations often get dropped in one browser or another. That was another reason why we featured the green sails of the ALEXANDER Von HUMBOLT II for so long, she was visible across all browsers and on all receivers from desk tops to smart phones. Stick with us as we build our photo collections of classic sailing vessels we'll eventually find many that work across all of cyber space. We try to be visually interesting across all media but for best results view us in Google Chrome with advertising blocking software off. We don't have pop ups , all ads are between posts. To order books you need the book icon links. Advertising blocking applications often mis- identify some of our illustrations as advertising and you get a big square block, or may be the word "Hotlink" appears in the block. We'll know by tomorrow if the VENCEDOR is a winner.FRIDAY APRIL 19, 2013

Face towards Boston. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------IN THE NEWS TODAY: Of course we are watching the investigation unfold in Boston . We added our only insights so far yesterday, one of which is the suggestion that anyone with any first aid training carry some first aid supplies in a medically marked fanny pack when attending events that draw massive crowds.Despite the attention focused on Boston we continue to monitor the China Seas where the dragon continues to misbehave. But the Dragon doesn't confine his naval misbehavior to the near sea, on Tuesday in the blog space we carried the story of the reptile on ice, in the Arctic Waters. Late on Tuesday we learned that a U.S. Navy war ship is visiting Hong Kong even while Chinese Coast Guard vessels are invading Japanese and Philippine exclusive economic zone waters daily. This seems to underscore the delicate nature of the situation. All regional powers seem to be pushing hard against aggressive claims and actions by China, but everyone seems to want to confine the issue to Coast Guard like forces and talk in terms of "administration", "law enforcement", and "fisheries management' while China occupies islands only a few miles from the Philippines and hundreds of miles from her own shore. Of course with Vietnam, which does not have the naval power of Japan, or an alliance with the U.S like both Japan and the Philippines ; China simply shoots anyone in the way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy2ZrFphSmc Watch out Tigers, the Dragon (China) made a gift of a war ship to Pakistan only a few days after making an overture to India (The Tigers). Don't drink the Dragon's cool aid, there is no truth to the reptilian claim that the Dragon doesn't want anything in the Indian Ocean. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IN THE BLOG SPACE TODAY: NAMAZU completes his address to the english speaking Peoples -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE BIG LINKS LOCKER: UNLOCKING THE MARITIME WORLD: Our mission is literally to unlock the maritime world by making all English language maritime data easy to find, available, evaluated when possible, and affordable.
