A WORD FROM THE EDITOR, JOHNAS PREBYTER

NAMAZU FULLY LOADED: THE FUTURE OF AMERICA CONTINUES TO DRAW NEW VISITORS TO THE SITE AND LEAVES US WITH SEVERAL EDITORIAL PROBLEMS AND SOME TEMPORARY CHANGES

Namazu The Earth Shaker, our new coastal environmental analyst and commentator

To all of our regular readers I'd like to extend our sincere thanks for your patience during the recent flurry of activity over new analyst NAMAZU'S recent post presidential election post. To the many new visitors seeking to read "NAMAZU FULLY LOADED: THE FUTURE OF AMERICA" we continue for today to carry the post just below the station Identification which is the page you are reading now  after the feature "RECKLESS A MARINE CORPS HORSE" , so you only need scroll down to find the posts.  NAMAZU of course is a giant Japanese catfish, former demigod, turned "Personification of a force of nature" (his explanation for what he is and does besides work as a coastal environmental analyst for us). Other than the facts that the author is a giant catfish, and that he recommended investment in tankers, to those who understand tanker operation, and he included some analysis on off shore oil and gas, the post was way more political, economic, and sociological than anything we have ever considered for publication in the past. But it was clear that NAMAZU had an insider's track on facts that anyone could use and would be interested in the day after the election. So I decided to run the post.

As some of you know from a later post, I came to a little grief over that decision, but the bottom line from the board is that the post stays up and the Catfish stays on. Readership doubled last week and the indications are clear that the controversial two part post was the reason. We hope many of our new visitors will stay with us and check in daily. There will be lots more from NAMAZU but our publication is so much more. If you are a maritime , or naval professional we have special sections that address your interest. If you are a fisherman, recreational boater /sailor, surfer, or boat builder we have special sections on your interests.

Here in the blog postings is where we provide expert opinion and analysis on the entire spectrum of human maritime activity. This is a great spot to catch the writings of the highly entertaining and deeply knowledgeable catfish. But we are in a bit of a quandary where to stow older postings by NAMAZU which don't quite fit the subject matter sections as presently organized. So for the time being they will gradually simply remain posted in day time order here in the blog posting space. So as time goes on these two postings which drew such high interest will become a bit harder to find, but they will be there just scroll down. Today we will pull the posting required by the Board of Directors about the controversial $4,500 down load referenced. And finally we will pull the news flashes and other data from the daily station IDs and place them in the appropriate subject matter sections or in the NEWS SERVICE in order of appearance. For conservation of space and avoidance of redundancy we are going to delete the actual station IDs between today and the first appearance of the explosively popular two part posting which first appeaed the day after the Presidential election on Wednesday November 7, 2012.

IRAN BELIEVES THE U.S. DRONE  IT SHOT DOWN EARLIER IN T HE MONTH WAS SPYING ON OIL TANKERS.

OPINION: The U.S. has to gather information on oil tankers evading the embargo against Iranian oil, part of the sanctions against their nuclear weapon development effort. We don't doubt for a minute that the U.S. drone that the U.S. government acknowledged was shot down was gathering information on oil tankers. This is perfectly legal and where the drone was operating was over international waters. Iraq had no legal right to fire on the drone. The U.S. has every right under the circumstances to protect even its unmanned drones from attack using deadly force if necessary. Of course the people who run Iran these days don't care about human life anyway so we don't know why we should wring our hands over taking more proactive defensive measures.

FELLOW EU MEMBERS BRITAIN AND SPAIN IN NAVAL CONFRONTATIONS OVER GIBRALTA

A Royal Navy patrol boat has  confronted a Spanish warship off  the coast of Gibraltar in the latest and most serious clash over Britain’s territorial waters. The Government has accused Spain of an ‘unlawful incursion’ after the Vencedora, a 288ft-long naval corvette, came within three miles of Gibraltar’s coast, apparently heading towards its port. The Vencedora, which means  ‘winner’, was equipped with Harpoon anti-ship missiles, multiple guns and torpedoes when it entered Gibraltar’s territorial waters on Wednesday afternoon. The Spanish ship ignored radio warnings to leave the area, and HMS Scimitar, a seven-man patrol boat, was scrambled to intercept. Although the Royal Navy boat was armed with only a single heavy machine gun, its presence forced the much larger ship to retreat. The incident is the latest and most serious incursion into Gibraltar’s sovereign territory this year.
