THE U.S. COAST GUARD'S NEW BLOG: COAST GUARD MARITIME COMMONS

 Billed as the Coast Guard blog for maritime professionals the new Coast Guard blog covers a number of subjects of concern for the maritime professional. Our favorite part is the explanations of various proposals and notices of actions that affect the maritime world found in the Federal Register. The National Mariner's Association has complained for years about all of the important information for maritime professionals that is buried in the Federal Register. The Federal Register is difficult to find , read and understand and a lot has been missed by the industry and labor over the decades because the regulatory process doesn't require any more public notice of pending actions than publication in the obscure federal register. The Coast Guard "MARITIME COMMONS" Blog is much easier to read easy to find on line and the Coast Guard editors and contributors take some pains to make the Federal Register  notices understandable by those of us who don't speak legalese. We find this a big much needed substantial improvement. Have a look:
