As our long time readers know we don't consider ourselves a news service. We do provide a "News Service" which is more of a news reading room linking our visitors to the major maritime news services and journals. There we also provide a headline service with links to interesting maritime stories for the last 60 days or so and we are building an archive of older news items. We occasionally post "News Flashes" on our Station ID page (similar to a "Home page") and often these alert our visitors to items never seen in the national media. We do however monitor the traditional national media mostly so we can distinguished between the well reported and under reported maritime stories. Yesterday, however we found an amazing fishing related video on the Huffington Post site, and today we link you to an important story from the same source on marine archaeology. We realize that anyone who uses AOL has probably seen this story. However fully half of our visitors are from countries other than the United States and are far less likely to be AOL users. In any case this story is important whether adequately reported in the national media or not and we didn't want you to miss it.
