"MEXICO CITY - Authorities detained three alleged members of the Knights Templar drug cartel in the killing of one of Mexico's highest-ranking navy officers and a bodyguard, Attorney General Jesus Murillo Karam said Monday.
President Enrique Pena Nieto vowed the attack wouldn't go unpunished. "We will work with all speed to arrest and bring to justice everyone responsible for the death of Vice Adm. Carlos Miguel Salazar," he said.
The killings of the admiral and another naval officer serving as his bodyguard marked a rare attack on Mexico's top military brass, but appeared to have been the result of a series of tragic coincidences rather than a planned, targeted assassination."
AAB has learned that the unidentified woman killed in the attack reported yesterday was the Admiral's wife. If this was a killing of opportunity and not a carefully planned attack as the Mexican authorities seem to suspect, the killing the Admiral's wife may have just been a coincidence but the pattern of killing family units is in keeping with past cartel methods when attempting to influence government policy. The Navy has been more successful at keeping its rank and file from intimidation by the cartels perhaps they have decided to go after the naval command structure to make their point? Pray for the Mexican navy and Marines they are standing in gap not only for Mexico but also for us. If not checked this lawlessness will spread across the border far more than it has already, which is far more than is being reported in the national media or by the federal government.
