According to foreign news sources the Russians have been making mock "attack runs" on the NATO Flotilla which entered the Black Sea on Wednesday. The IRISH EXAMINER has reported that Russian Tu-95 "Bear" bombers have been flying patterns just 40 Km off of the Ukraine Coast. The Russian bombers reportedly show little regard for major civilian flight corridors, including those used by flights originating in North America. Russian media reports Su-30 and Su-24 attack fighters from the Russian Black Sea Fleet recently transferred to the Crimea peninsula practiced "Penetrating anti air systems against warships from the U.S. and Turkey". Russia has a coast line on the Black Sea and is not treaty  limited as most NATO nations other than Turkey are in the number of ships or duration of stay in the area. The Bear seems determined to assert its dominance in the region. It is becoming more difficult for NATO to assure member states such as Turkey and cooperative states such as Ukraine and Georgia that NATO forces are able to assist in the event of Russian aggression. Just maintaining a significant naval presence is difficult based solely on treaty requirements . Russia being the most powerful state on the rim of the Black Sea is determined to turn it into a Russian pond.

 According to accounts in the DOD publication STARS AND STRIPES International warships assigned to a U.S.-led NATO maritime group entered the Black Sea on Wednesday to train with NATO members/partners in the region.Six ships make up the current group, one of two immediate-reaction forces under the alliance's maritime arm. The group is commanded by U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Brad Williamson, who is embarked with his staff on the guided-missile cruiser USS Vicksburg. The other ships in the NATO maritime group are the Canadian frigate HMCS Fredericton, the Turkish frigate TCG Turgutreis, the German tanker FGS Spessart, the Italian frigate ITS Aliseo, and the Romanian frigate ROS Regina Maria.

An international treaty limits the number of non- area war ships that may enter at any one time and the duration of their visits. NATO naval flotillas and U.S. ships have increased the frequency and duration of their visits to near treaty limits since the Russian take over of the Crimea.

The air crews are joint service, unheard of on American carriers with both Royal Navy and Air Force fighter pilots and British Army helicopter pilots and air craft service crews.

These air craft are also short takeoff design eliminating the need for catapults.

The Atlantic Magazine's In Depth Analysis Indicates:

  

 The Islamic State is no mere collection of psychopaths. It is a religious group with carefully considered beliefs, among them that it is a key agent of the coming apocalypse. Atlantic author Grame Wood offers his thoughts on what that means for ISIS strategy and how the West may be able to stop it. Our analysis of Mr. Wood's analysis indicates that if he is correct, and we agree on most points, then ISIS expects eventual defeat but wants the West to mass forces at a certain time and place. They view their potential eventual defeat as the rallying point that will bring about global Muslim rule.  

 

 If correct, there can be no unconditional surrender, no negotiated peace, no cessation of hostilities after a massive blood letting of ISIS forces. Either their ideology must be demonstrated as false or you have to "kill every single one of them and their pet goat". Our slightly different analysis considers this fact. Of the 1.4 Billion Muslims in the world over 800 million are illiterate. Its tough to have a war of ideas with people who are abysmally ignorant, backward, unable to read, and rigidly controlled. 

 

 So are we left with only the hope of "killing every single one of them and their pet goat?" We had better be prepared to do exactly that but it may prove unnecessary at some point. There is a movement of about 125 million Muslims that seek to reform Islam so that it can exist in a civilized and pluralistic society.  If the bulk of the supporters of Wahhabi influenced Islam can be induced with enough pain, or guilt, the existence of an alternate and peaceful form of Islam may appear as a safe haven for them. Conversion to "reformed Islam" or other religions could stop our defenses short of having to kill every Wahhabi influenced Muslim on the planet. But if we don't show the necessary resolve and capability of doing just that we won't get their attention and due consideration of any religious ideas beyond slaughtering the rest of us.   

 

 Our analysis is that we should avoid at all costs massing Western Forces at the place that ISIS wants us to mass based on their religious interpretation of certain scriptural passages. But that doesn't mean fighting a war of just containment. Our war against ISIS must be one of annihilation. In terms of discrediting their ideas of the mass murder, torture, and enslavement of the rest of humanity as some sort of religious duty, the highly visible leadership of Jordan, the Kurds, and Egypt in resisting ISIS must continue. Massive resistance by non Wahhabi influenced Muslims demonstrates to those under the influence that not every Muslim buys into the sick Wahhabi doctrine.   Our view of defeating ISIS is more akin to riot control than containment. Press hard with a real war of annihilation, while showing the "collection of psychopaths" an exit into a more normal human life.  

  

There is no central teaching authority in Islam. Muslims follow numerous Imams with often very different views of Islam not only beyond the "Five Pillars" but also even on the meaning of the Five Pillars themselves. If the teachings of Wahhabi influenced ISIS can be made to result in unacceptable pain, the followers may turn to a form that the rest of the world can co-exist with until the innate nature of Islam as a philosophy of conquest erupts again.  The alternative quite frankly is that if ISIS continues, and much more of their blood lust is loosed in Western nations, at some point no Muslim may be left alive on earth. The West has a stake in the fight, ISIS intends to sack Rome within 5 years according to their own press. But the West can turn the entire Middle East into a glow in the dark parking lot if necessary to insure our own survival. The fight is actually between and among Muslims. If ISIS "wins" and remember in their minds they can win despite being annihilated, if they can get the West to mass forces at the Dabig, Syria. ISIS intends to annihilate the West and leaves the West with no choice but to annihilate it and all of its supporters. That could be the death knell for hundreds of thousands of Christians and Jews in the Middle East especially, and around the World. But if Muslims don't visibly lead the fight against ISIS and turn from Wahhabi influence the likely result will be about 800 million Muslim deaths. The choice is with the rest of Islam. The West is awakening and ISIS has pulled the tail of a sleeping Tiger.

ITALIAN COAST GUARD TO INCREASE ARMED PRESENCE

Italian Coast Guard Prepares To Arm Itself  To  Defend Against ISIS Threat

 The Italian Coast Guard, a highly efficient multi mission maritime uniformed service is beefing up its armed presence . The Italian Coast Guard like the U.S. Coast Guard is both a maritime law/regulatory enforcement agency and a search and rescue organization with elements of a naval auxiliary force mixed in. The defensive naval auxiliary function is coming to the fore due to increased risks from Jihadists "just across the pond". This is an enemy highly likely to arrive by water. The arrival of ISIS forces and Muslim Brotherhood forces in Libya and their well publicized intention to attack Mediterranean shipping and to eventually sack Rome has prompted the Coast Guard's Central Command to request from the transport ministry a new status. If granted , and that seems highly likely the Italian Coast Guard will have the same authority to arm its personnel as Italian armed police forces as in 24/7 every uniformed member of the force if need be.  This could put as many as 11,000 more trained uniformed, armed personnel into the ports and coastal waters. Many if not most Italian Coast Guard vessels are capable of mounting crew served belt fed weapons such as 30 to 50 caliber machine guns sufficient to mop up incoming terrorists who arrive by typical larger recreational or small commercial vessels.

 The Jahadist also have announced their intention to push 500,000 illegal immigrants at Southern Europe. Migrant interdiction in the future, a Coast Guard mission is likely to become more confrontational. We look for virtually all patrol boat crews eventually to be armed. While the Italian Coast Guard hasn't been routinely operating in armed mode e are familiar with the organization. This is a disciplined, professional service and we believe they will acquit themselves very well in a mobilized armed mode. If we were Italian citizens we'd urge the Transport Ministry to approve the arming of the Coast Guard now. Across the "pond" tens of thousands of Jahadist are arming up and burning with desire to sack Rome. 11,000 disciplined, skilled armed boat crewmen can help.

 Nicaragua is attempting to build a 161 mile long canal across the country linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. If it ever actually is completed the Nicaragua Canal would be longer, wider, and deeper than the present 51 mile long Panama Canal. Supposedly the new canal could accommodate the new larger container ships that presently can't get through the Panama Canal. But there are real reasons to doubt that the project can ever be completed. There is also the issue of even if it can be completed,will it deliver on its economic promise to double the gross domestic product of Nicaragua.While construction has started at least in the form of access roads the most preliminary of studies for a civil work of this magnitude have yet to be started. The project must cut through a lake that provides more than half of the fresh water for the nation. Yet, the canal is supposed to be a sea level canal with no locks. How will the salt water be kept out of the lake. The canal builders have already vowed that they will not use explosives in dredging the through lake channel, yet the lake bottom is known to be rocky, what alternative technology do they think they will use? The financing of the canal is unsettled and the astronomical costs as yet accurately estimated. The canal is being financed by a Chinese billionaire but it is unclear if his entire net worth would be sufficient to complete the project. It seems more likely that in the Chinese crony capitalist system that is jokingly called "communism" today the publicly announced plan and the observable but hardly impressive "construction start" may have no real purpose except to give China a new inroad into Central America and cause anxiety in certain American governmental and public sectors.Click on either link , read the entire article  and decide for yourself. UPDATE 3.1.2015 1345 CST: The Italian Navy just released an announcement of a naval exercise off of Libya called Mare Aperto (Open Sea)  to start Monday. The specific troop and ship movement mentioned in this news alert was not mentioned. However,  Admiral Pierpaolo Ribuffo, the officer in command of exercises, said the operation was not directly connected with the crisis in Libya, where Ita lian energy group Eni has significant offshore oil platforms and other assets. Our analysis is that the movement is an exercise designed to turn into a rescue , relief, support mission if necessary. The mere presence of a force offshore capable of pinning back ISIS may be enough to deter an attack on the referenced pipe line terminus.

 According to the Malta Independent Saturday February 28, 2015 edition Italy looks poised for direct naval/military action against ISIS forces in Libya. They have embarked ground forces into the amphibious warship  NAVE SAN GIORGIO at the port of La Spezia. 

The troops of the Reggimento San Marco arrived in the middle of the night unannounced and embarked the war ship which has since sailed with no public announcements that we know of as of this writing. The ships rumored next stop is Augusta in Sicily to take on additional troops and supplies. There is speculation in the Italian media that this movement is a prelude to an action at Misurata where there is an oil pipe line defended by fatigued Libyan Militia in danger of defeat from ISIS forces. Certain Italian Media sources have said the Italian forces will defend Misurata  relieving Libyan Militia. While Italy has said that it is ready to act in Libya in concert with UN or allied forces, this mission if that is what the movement signifies, is probably a direct action in support of Italy's direct interest. This is probably a close proximity export pipeline that delivers vital product to Italy's economy. The movement could also be an elaborate rehearsal for such an event or drill. 

 Additionally it is becoming more apparent that the real ultimate  five year objective of ISIS  is to capture Rome, the Middle East being but a prelude. Since the West isn't acting with resolve to crush ISIS Italy may be realizing that it has to act in its own self interest with or without allies. If so, God bless and God speed Italy.
