A WORD FROM THE EDITORIAL BOARD

 We created the Google profile for Johnas Presbyter, Editor in Chief of the American Admiralty Books Blog for the express purpose of giving him a means to direct attention to posts of interests on the the blog. We and he were unaware until recently that a "Home Page" was associated with the "Profile". On the profile we are able to post notices, images, and links and visitors to the site may post comments. We have recently discovered that we do not have that level of control on the associated home page where others may post images, posts, and links and we are not able to edit for content, or delete easily, inappropriate material. We ask all visitors to the Johnas Presbyter home page to please be aware of the following:

1. We do not offer anything for sale on our blog, or on the Johnas Presbyter home page. Where a visitor has posted a sales pitch and link to vendor we have no connection to that individual or business, do not endorse any products posted here, and we draw no revenues from sales.

2. If you make an on line purchase anywhere on the Internet and you live in a state that charges sales taxes, you are liable for the sales tax. In most states with such laws you are to report such purchases on your state income tax return and remit the sales tax due with your income tax payment (in some cases by separate check , inquire with your state Internal Revenue Department for individual state requirements). 

3. Some of our fishermen visitors like to post images of swim wear clad women posing with fish they have apparently caught or bikini models pointing out marine recreational products like boats. skis, paddle boards, or fishing gear. We have no objection to such imagery BUT a few of you have been posting not only "cheese cake imagery" but actual nudity. OUR BLOG IS OPEN TO ALL AGES. WE OFFER IMPORTANT MARITIME VOCATIONAL INFORMATION TO HIGH SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS. THE OUT OF CONTEXT SCANTILY CLAD WOMEN IMAGES AND OUT RIGHT NUDITY HAVE REACHED A LEVEL THAT WE HAVE HAD TO TEMPORARILY AGE RESTRICT THIS ENTIRE PROFILE SITE. MORE OVER SOME OF OUR VISITORS ARE WOMEN FISHER FOLK, DIVERS, SAILORS, AND SURFERS AND NO DOUBT FIND SOME OF THESE IMAGES OFFENSIVE. WE DON'T POST SUCH IMAGERY ON OUR BLOG, WE DON'T WANT IT HERE. WE WELCOME WOMEN WITH VARIOUS MARITIME INTERESTS.  PLEASE CONSIDER OUR GOAL IN MAINTAINING THIS SITE AS INCLUSIVE OF A YOUNGER AND MIXED GENDER AUDIENCE AND THINK BEFORE  POSING QUESTIONABLE IMAGES. 

4, We encourage political discussion especially on maritime and naval subjects, but please keep the language civil.  Again language is another reason why we recently had to raise the age rating for the site. THIS IS NO PLACE FOR EXPLICIT SEXUAL OR BATHROOM HUMOR.

5. We can hardly blame visitors for posting on products of interest to boaters, fishermen, wind surfers, divers, and professional mariners. But this is not the place to sell purses, jewelry, cookies, etc. 

6. AS REQUIRED BY THE EU AND OTHER NON EU NANNY STATES WE MUST WARN OUR VISITORS THAT WE DO NOT ISSUE "COOKIES" BUT THE GOOGLE ORGANIZATION WHICH FURNISHES THE DASH BOARD FOR THIS SITE MAY, AND ANY OF THE POSTS WITH LINKS MAY, AND PROBABLY WILL LEAD YOU TO SITES THAT ISSUE "COOKIES".
