CHINESE MILITARY LEADERS COMMITTING SUICIDE OF LATE

WILL THIS LEAD TO SWIMMING TROUBLES FOR THE DRAGON?

UPDATE: 6/22/2015: Indications are that while such suicides still occur occasionally the pace has subsided substantially since 2014.  We think this indicates a more or less completed purge. What this means to the United States is that more PLA generated money is reaching the PLA and funding more military power for China and less high living for their Generals. High living Chinese generals were actually better for the interests of the United States than modestly living and competent generals.
ACCORDING TO A RECENT ARTICLE IN THE WASHINGTON POST:
" As Supreme Leader Xi Jinping’s anti-graft crusade penetrates the inner circles of the People’s Liberation Army, signs of internal tension and disorder among senior military leaders are becoming evident, with reliable sources reporting that a growing number of leaders have committed suicide."

You can follow any of the links above to read the entire story. We are not surprised. The PLA has always had a commercial side. The army actually owns businesses, the profits from which help support the military. Where there are profits and powerful people in a rigid hierarchical system some folks are always inclined to pilfer. In the former Communist, now largely crony capitalists state, many military officers had businesses on the side. Militaries are big buyers of commodities, equipment, services and components. Insider selling to military organizations is considered a crime in most nations, For a long time China looked the other way. Now that they're not, heads are rolling, Many deaths of suspected inside traders are self inflicted, done in anticipation of the draconian penalties that China inflicts on "enemies of the people". The only issue the United States and the nations surrounding the China Seas have to contend with is whether or not the departing flag and general officers and colonels will slow the growth of the Chinese forces. We don't believe their departures by suicide, state execution or imprisonment, or simple resignation or early retirement, will have any effect on the Dragon's march to overwhelming military power. The only thing that will slow China's unprecedented reach for military and naval power would be general economic collapse.
