GOD BLESS AMERICA AND THE FLEET RESERVE!

This is "Ego Alley" in Annapolis viewed from the vicinity of the FLEET RESERVE  club house deck. -

We don't mean to imply that the Fleet Reserve Club hasn't, in fact, been open all winter. It just seems to us old retired guys of the AAB that it just opened because we go AWOL from our beloved Annapolis each winter. We should have gotten back in March but the enemy of old bones, winter was still encamped. Then came April cold , rain, even snow hammered our normally temperate home. Honkered down in alternative port of refuge New Orleans we knew it was cold in Annapolis because it was actually comfortable in New Orleans where April is often  the start of a  tropical heat visit of about six or seven months duration. In February even die hard Vic the most cold tolerant old sailor in the crew who normally winters over in Chesapeake country had to take a break and head down to Key West. We hope you enjoyed the tours he sent for posting. There is no better place in the world than Annapolis, most years for about nine months of the year. Our favorite watering hole is the Fleet Reserve Club, a private veterans club on Ego Alley. Its a place where an old sailor can be an old sailor. If you personally aren't a vet the club is open to the public during the boat shows. It makes a great base for an all day boat show visit. Occasionally we push away from the bar and take a stroll around down town. See if you can spot us there this summer. As old guys we like stuff that's free so sometimes we leave the club for city dock for the free concerts, especially the Navy band free concerts. Namazu may visit this summer taking on his human form for a brief visit. We go to Church at the Chapel of the Midshipmen on Sundays and occasionally use the driving range or take in lunch at the Greenbrier club on the other side of the river. We just tend to do more outdoors and get out and about more in Annapolis in summer and feel less of the inclination to honker down next to the largest air conditioning unite we can find. We hope our regular readers who are in the area will try to find us there. Myself (Johnas) and Og are most always there and Namazu visits off and on.

Of course we don't look like our published pictures and as most of you know except for Namazu we don't use our pen names in public or our real names in print. Political incorrectness is frowned upon for government retirees so we try to keep these things separate because we haven't got a clue about what's politically correct and we don't really give a rat's pertutty  about it anyway. But if you spot any of us in Annapolis this summer and ask....we will own up to who we are. It could be a kinda fun Anapolitian summer game a kind of "Where's Waldo". Don't bother to look for us in New Orleans in winter its a much bigger town and our interests are all spread out, but we are pretty centered in Annapolis . Don't believe everyone who claims to have seen us or knows us, even in the Fleet Reserve club. Only about six people in the whole town know who we are and they won't tell..
