FRANCE HANDS OVER NAVAL COMMAND OF THE
EUROPEAN UNION'S COUNTER PIRACY TASK FORCE TO ITALY

The nations of the EU participating in this task force rotate the leadership. Today the task falls to Italy a competent small naval power whose home turf, the Mediterranean, is the focus of so much attention due to the entry into that smallish space of the Dragon, the Tiger, and Ivan all in the same week.
