THE DRAGON AND OPEN REGISTRIES

6/24/2013 How far Will The Dragon Swim

HOW FAR WILL THE DRAGON SWIM AND WHOSE COLORS WILL IT SHOW? KYODO NEWS REPORTS A WHOLE NEW DRAGON TRICK.

Open Registries, nations that allow owners with no serious connection to them to fly their flag for a fee are one of the oldest commercial tricks in the maritime book for avoiding safety laws and taxes. Before Nixon's ping pong diplomacy opened China to the World China ran a virtually invisible merchant marine under such flags. The Dragon is a very experienced open registry operator. Now its found a new use for open registries in the political portion of its never ending fight to take all out lying island territories from its neighbors . Read the below excerpt from the KYODO NEWS.

Bahamas-registered vessel sails in Japan's EEZ near Senkakus

NAHA, Japan, June 23, Kyodo
A Bahamas-registered maritime research vessel was sailing in Japan's exclusive economic zone near the disputed Senkaku Islands on Sunday with a wire lowered into the water, the Japan Coast Guard said.
The 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, urged the vessel, the Discoverer2, to desist as its activities contravened international treaties that require prior approval for research.
But the vessel responded in Chinese that the waters lie in China's EEZ and it had obtained approval from the Chinese government, according to the coast guard.

FROM AAB EDITORS: Next to effective settlement, effective administration is the second best international legal argument for ownership of uninhabited islands. So the Dragon registers its own "research vessels" with a third country and then grants itself a research permit. Then it tracks how many times it has done this and demands that the UN tribunal compare it to the number of research permits granted by Japan. since Japan is the legitimate owner of the islands and there is a very visible dispute over them real oil companies and others interested in research stay away. So Japan doesn't grant many permits. But The Dragon just changes the flags on its own vessels as often as it wants and multiplies the number of nations that supposedly "recognize" it by applying for permits. Not only does the Dragon reveal its nature as a thug state , its a swindler as well. We've said it before dragons speak with forked tungus.
