6/6/2013 NEW DRAGON?

TAIWAN MEDIA NOW ASKING IF U.S. NAVY MONITORING OF MOVEMENTS OF TAIWAN WAR SHIPS IS A SIGN OF GROWING MISTRUST.

Ever since we reported the "great water cannon fight" between  Japanese and  Taiwanese Coast Guard vessels inside Japan's territorial sea in which there were radio communications between the Taiwan ship and a PRC ship just outside the territorial waters of Japan we have openly wondered if we could trust Taiwan anymore. http://americanadmiraltybooks.blogspot.com/2012/12/12112012-how-far-will-dragon-swim-how.html  Well finally the Taiwan media has recognized that perhaps we don't.

This from Zhang Lulu of the China . Org.cn organization:

"A Taiwan naval vessel engaged in the protection of fishing boats around the Nansha Islands was monitored by a nearby U.S. anti-submarine aircraft in what may be a sign of distrust between Taiwan and the U.S., according to a report on Xinmin.cn Wednesday.
According to a report Monday in the "Taiwan Liberty Times", the Taiwan "Kangding" class Kunming naval vessel was sailing off Taiping Island of the Nansha Islands on May 25 having carried out a supply mission to the island when it spotted a U.S. P-3C ASW aircraft believed to be part of the U.S. anti-submarine warfare squadron of the Anderson Air Force Base in Guam.
According to reports, the aircraft twice circled the Taiwan warship, coming so close that the ship's crew could clearly identify U.S. military insignia and the word "NAVY" on the rear part of the aircraft."

Recently Taiwan protested over Philippine "occupation" of an island claimed by Taiwan more than 900 miles from Taiwan but only about 140 miles from the Philippines and well within the Philippines declared and internationally recognized exclusive economic zone. The only way that Taiwan could believe that it had a claim to such a place in modern times is that her government has been drinking the PRC cool aid on the "First String of Islands doctrine". This policy can not help but eventually lead to a shooting naval war in the China seas. Why wouldn't the U.S. start to worry that weapons provided to Taiwan could be turned against us and our allies when their policies are in perfect alignment with the PRCs which are in direct opposition to settled international law?
