NAMAZU ADDRESSES THE ENGLISH SPEAKING WORLD
NAMAZU, giant Japanese catfish former demigod, turned maritime analyst |
Namazu's on going theme, his "ADDRESS TO THE ENGLISH SPEAKING WORLD continues but the naval news is overtaking him. This series started back on January 29, 2013 and continues. In this series Namazu is proposing that all of the English speaking nations form a "naval union" to combine and coordinate their sea power in order to respond to the multiple challenges that the English speaking sea powers face. Since January 29th, the Chinese have repeatedly violated Japanese territorial waters, "painted" Japanese war ships with fire control radar, brought suite to the UN over the islands of others that they claim, and used a veiled threat delivered by a colonel in a military academic institution to threaten Australia with a nuclear strike if Australia should take up arms with the United States in support of the defense of Japan. The same colonel, echoing less direct sentiment from the senior leadership stated that it is a national goal of China to push the U.S. Navy and all U.S. influence out of the Western Pacific and bottle up the western most part of the U.S. fleet in Pearl Harbor. He specifically mentioned that the complete eviction of the U.S. influence from the region moist specifically included Australia. At least a few public figures in Australia are just now starting to reevaluate public policy pronouncements to the effect that "Australia doesn't have to choose between the the United states and China". Check in with us this week for continuing coverage of events in the China Seas which the U.S..infotainment media just seems blissfully unaware of and for the next installment from Namazu.

UNREST CONTINUES ALONG THE SUEZ CANAL:
Suez Canal Kept Open in Spite of Egypt Protests
THE NEW YORK TIMES
By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK

February 17, 2013
CAIRO — Thousands of demonstrators shut down the administrative buildings of the Suez Canal terminal in the city of Port Said on Sunday, as part of a general strike protesting the death sentences handed down three weeks ago to 21 local soccer fans for their roles in a deadly riot last year.
The protests marked the closest that the chaos in Egypt over the last two years has come to threatening the operations of the Suez Canal, an artery of shipping critical to both international commerce and the battered Egyptian economy.
The administrative facilities were emptied as the protesters approached, residents said, but a military guard protected the port from disruption. President Mohamed Morsi, of the Muslim Brotherhood’s political arm, had deployed the military to protect the city when the protests there started three weeks ago.
The success of the strike, as life had begun to return to the streets, was a vivid reminder that the government in Cairo has not yet restored full control over Port Said, a major city at the Mediterranean head of the Suez Canal with a population of about 600,000.
