EDITOR'S NOTE: Given the Impact and the continuing nature of our series on the China Seas problems including "HOW FAR WILL THE DRAGON SWIM" and Namazu's "ADDRESS TO THE ENGLISH SPEAKING WORLD" we've decided to maintain this space devoted to related videos and expand on it when we find short videos that help explain points made in our previous postings. NAMAZU ADDRESSES THE ENGLISH SPEAKING WORLD
NAMAZU, giant Japanese catfish former demigod, turned maritime analyst

Namazu's on going theme, his "ADDRESS TO THE ENGLISH SPEAKING WORLD continues but the naval news is overtaking him. This series started back on January 29, 2013 and continues. In this series Namazu is proposing that all of the English speaking nations form a "naval union" to combine and coordinate their  sea power in order to respond  to the multiple challenges that the English speaking sea powers face. Since January 29th, the Chinese have repeatedly violated Japanese territorial waters, "painted" Japanese war ships with fire control radar, brought suite to the UN over the islands of others that they claim, and used a veiled threat delivered by a colonel in a military  academic institution to threaten Australia with a nuclear strike if Australia should take up arms with the United States in support of the defense of Japan. The same colonel, echoing less direct sentiment from the senior leadership stated that it is a national goal of China to push the U.S. Navy and all U.S. influence out of the Western Pacific and bottle up the western most part of the U.S.  fleet in Pearl Harbor. He specifically mentioned that the complete eviction of the U.S. influence from the region moist specifically included Australia. At least a few public figures in Australia are just now starting to reevaluate public policy pronouncements to the effect that "Australia doesn't have to choose between the the United states and China". Check in with us this week for continuing coverage of events in the China Seas which the U.S..infotainment media just seems blissfully unaware of and for the next installment from Namazu. Check the video links above for videos that will help you catch up with th eissues if your are just now tuning in this discussion of global naval challenges.

IN THE NEWS:

Nigerian Pirates Demand $1.3 Million Ransom for Release of Kidnapped Sailors

BY  ON

YENAGOA, Nigeria, Feb 20 (Reuters) – Pirates who kidnapped six foreign sailors from an oil servicing vessel off the Nigerian coast on Sunday are demanding 200 million naira ($1.3 million) for their release, police said on Tuesday.

One Russian, three Ukrainian and two Indian sailors were taken when gunmen stormed the Armada Tuah 40 miles (65 km) off the coast of oil-producing Bayelsa state.

Editors Note: Pirates take ships every week. This taking is a bit news worthy because its not off of Somalia and the type of vessel taken was not a conventional ship but a service vessel providing support to the search fro off shore oil.

Royal Split – A Palace Rift in Persian Gulf Bedevils Key U.S. Navy Base - WSJ.com

A rift within the Bahrain royal family is playing into the hands of hard-line Islamists and eroding American influence – raising U.S. concern over its primary naval base in the Persian Gulf, reports the WSJ. Bahrain’s king and his predecessors nurtured Western links for decades, notes the WSJ. But a previously-marginalized hereditary line within the royal family, the Khawalids, whose power base includes the hard-line Islamist movement, has grown in prominence, gaining control of some of Bahrain’s key institutions. Although there is concern among palace insiders and western observers that the Khawalids could eventually take over the line of royal succession, officials don’t believe that will happen soon, writes the paper. Officials admit that some conservative elements within the royal family are suspicious of U.S. motives in Bahrain. A former Director of National Intelligence and Commander in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Command this month urged the Pentagon to move the Fifth Fleet’s headquarters out of the island country, notes the WSJ.
